Features
A songbook designed for how music actually works.
Capture songs the way you think, not how notation demands
You can enter ideas quickly without breaking your concentration. If you know the chord name, use standard notation. If you don't, define it directly on the fretboard. If the idea is incomplete, save it anyway. If it changes later, let it evolve naturally.
Edit freely, every change is reversible
Change a chord, restructure a section, try a different arrangement. If it doesn't work, undo it, step by step, or all at once with a single tap. Every editing session has a safe starting point you can always return to. The freedom to experiment without the fear of losing what was already working.
Structured like real music
Songs are built from sections, not pages. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Outro. Loops that repeat, evolve and return. A clear visual structure you understand at a glance.
Your entire songbook, always within reach
Every song in SongForm has a title, artist, tags, and notes. Your setlists are the default way to organise your music, each one a curated collection. But your songs are never siloed: search by title, artist, tag, or note instantly, within a single setlist or across your entire library. The smarter your songbook grows, the faster you find what you need.
Chords you understand, not just see
SongForm treats chords as musical ideas. Build chords intentionally, visualise fingerings on the fretboard with real intervals, save custom shapes that fit how you play.
Your chord dictionary
How did you play that Ebsus2 in that song you only bring out occasionally? SongForm stores the exact fingerings you used, on the fretboard with intervals, so you can retrieve them instantly without having to search or improvise.
Bring in your existing songs
Paste plain text with chords and lyrics. Import from Ultimate Guitar and similar sources. They convert automatically into structured, editable songs. Once inside, they stop being static references.
Play along to your own music
Attach audio tracks to your songs. SongForm detects BPM automatically and aligns the visual structure with the waveform. AirPlay and Bluetooth. Per-device latency compensation. Hands-free controls with AirPods.
A performance mode that doesn't interrupt
When it's time to play, the interface disappears. Large, readable chords. Auto-scroll. Visual metronome. Instant loop for solos or improvisation. Designed for focus, not distraction.
Tune before you play
A full-featured tuner, always at hand. Reference tone for tuning by ear. Support for any tuning, standard or alternate.
Your songs are never trapped
SongForm uses SFF (SongForm Format), its own Markdown-based format, readable in any editor, printable, shareable. Exports and imports are symmetrical. You can also export as chord+lyric or lyric only.

SongForm is already the app I use every day. And that's precisely why I know what's missing. There are lots of features on the way. Some already planned, others that will emerge from real use and what you tell me. If something's missing, write to me.
